Wasp and bee removal
Wasps treated, bees relocated wherever it can be done safely.
Wasps and bees need different answers, and treating a bee colony as though it were a wasp nest destroys something worth keeping. We identify what you actually have before deciding anything.
Wasp nests are treated and removed. Bee colonies we relocate live wherever it can be done safely, and we will say plainly when it cannot, which is usually when the colony is deep inside a wall or the access is genuinely dangerous.
Signs
How to tell
- Steady two-way traffic to one point on the building, an eave, a vent, an air brick
- A papery grey nest under an eave, in a roof space or in a shed
- Sudden aggression when someone passes a particular spot
- A hum from a wall or ceiling void, which usually means bees rather than wasps
Method
How we treat it
- 01IdentifyWasp or bee, and where the nest actually is, which is often not where the insects are entering.
- 02DecideWasps are treated. Bees are relocated live where it can be done safely, and we tell you honestly when it cannot.
- 03Treat or relocateDone in protective equipment at a time of day when most of the colony is home, so the job is finished in one visit.
Safety
Around children and pets
This is the treatment where you should keep everyone well clear until we arrive, particularly children and pets. Do not attempt to spray, block or smoke a nest, a disturbed colony is dangerous, and blocking the entrance usually sends it into the building.
Questions
Common questions
- Will you kill the bees?
- Not if it can be avoided. We relocate colonies live wherever it is safe to do so. Where it genuinely is not, deep in a cavity, or over an unsafe access, we will tell you why rather than quietly treating them.
- Can I block the hole myself?
- Please do not. Blocking the entrance of a live nest usually pushes the colony inward, and they come out inside the building instead.
