Questions we get every week
- Do you have to drill the floor?
- Sometimes, where the route runs beneath a slab and there is no other way to reach it. We drill the smallest number of holes that will do the job, plug them afterwards, and show you where they are before we start. More on termite control →
- How long before I know it has worked?
- Activity usually stops within two to three weeks. What to look for is explained before we leave, because the absence of mud tubes is not the same as the absence of a colony. More on termite control →
- Will one visit be enough?
- Almost never, and anyone promising it is guessing. No product reliably kills the eggs, so a second visit after they hatch is part of the treatment rather than an extra. More on bed bug treatment →
- Do I need to throw the mattress away?
- Usually not. Unless it is badly damaged, treatment and an encasement cover deal with it. We will tell you honestly if a piece of furniture is beyond saving. More on bed bug treatment →
- Can you do it without poison?
- Yes. Trapping plus proofing works, and in a house with small children, a dog, or an audited food area it is usually the better choice. We will say which we recommend and why. More on rodent control →
- Why do they keep coming back?
- Because the way in is still open. Bait removes the rodents that are there; it does nothing about the gap that let them in. That is why we survey before we treat. More on rodent control →
- Why are there more ants after treatment?
- Because it is working. The bait has to be carried back and shared, so the trail gets busier before the nest goes quiet. Spraying at that point undoes the treatment. More on ant control →
- Will it stop them coming back?
- It empties that nest. Sri Lankan gardens hold many, so the lasting fix is closing the route in and removing what attracted them, both of which we deal with on the visit. More on ant control →
- Do I have to empty the kitchen?
- No. Because we gel into gaps and voids rather than spraying surfaces, the kitchen stays usable throughout. Just clear the cupboard under the sink. More on cockroach control →
- Is a fogger not faster?
- It looks faster. Fogging kills what is out in the open and leaves the cracks and gaps they shelter in and egg cases untouched, so it comes back. We use foggers where they suit the job, and a kitchen is not one. More on cockroach control →
- Can you just fog the garden?
- We can, and it will help for a few days. If the breeding sites stay, so does the problem. We would rather tell you that than sell you a fog every two weeks. More on mosquito control →
- Is it safe around a fish pond?
- Yes, provided we know it is there. Tell us before the visit and we will protect it and choose products accordingly. More on mosquito control →
- Which unit do I need for a kitchen?
- A glue-board UV unit, not an electric grid. A grid does not contain what it kills, which rules it out anywhere food is open. We fit and supply both and will tell you which suits each room. More on fly control →
- Why do the flies come back every year?
- Usually a seasonal breeding site, a drain, a bin store, or a void that warms up. Finding it once ends the annual repeat. More on fly control →
- Will you kill the bees?
- Not if it can be avoided. We relocate colonies live wherever it is safe to do so. Where it genuinely is not, deep in a cavity, or over an unsafe access, we will tell you why rather than quietly treating them. More on wasp and bee removal →
- Can I block the hole myself?
- Please do not. Blocking the entrance of a live nest usually pushes the colony inward, and they come out inside the building instead. More on wasp and bee removal →
- Are house spiders dangerous?
- The great majority found in Sri Lankan homes are harmless and genuinely useful, since they eat mosquitoes. We treat where numbers are a nuisance, and we are happy to tell you which ones are worth leaving alone. More on spider control →
- Why do the webs come straight back?
- Because the food is still there. Treating the webs without reducing the insects is why it feels endless. More on spider control →
- How often are the visits?
- It depends on the building and what it does. A quiet office might be quarterly; a busy kitchen is usually monthly. We recommend a cycle after the survey rather than selling a package first. More on general pest control →
- Will it satisfy an audit?
- That is what the records are for. Each visit is documented with what was found, what was treated and what needs your attention, and the file is yours. More on general pest control →
