Bed bug treatment

A room-by-room programme, because bed bugs are never only in the bed.

Bed bugs are a furniture problem that happens to involve a bed. By the time bites appear they are usually in the frame, the skirting, the back of the headboard and often the next room. A single treatment of the mattress alone almost never works, and the return of the bites two weeks later is not bad luck, it is the rest of the population.

Our programme treats every crack and gap they shelter in, then repeats after the eggs have hatched, because no product reliably kills an egg. Two visits are part of the job, not an upsell.

Signs

How to tell

  • Bites in a line or a small cluster, usually on skin that was uncovered overnight
  • Small dark spots along mattress seams, in the bed frame joints or on the wall behind the headboard
  • Shed skins, which look like empty translucent shells
  • A sweetish, musty smell in a badly infested room
Method

How we treat it

  1. 01Room surveyWe check the bed, the frame, the skirting, the bedside furniture and the adjoining rooms, and mark where they are actually living rather than where you were bitten.
  2. 02First treatmentEvery crack and gap is treated, including frame joints, skirting gaps and furniture seams, with a precisely applied product suited to a room people sleep in.
  3. 03Second treatmentA second visit around two weeks later deals with anything that has hatched since. This is included, because eggs survive the first treatment no matter who does it.
Safety

Around children and pets

Products are applied into cracks, seams and voids rather than sprayed across the surfaces you touch. Bedding is never treated. The room is ready to sleep in once the application has dried and the room has aired.
Questions

Common questions

Will one visit be enough?
Almost never, and anyone promising it is guessing. No product reliably kills the eggs, so a second visit after they hatch is part of the treatment rather than an extra.
Do I need to throw the mattress away?
Usually not. Unless it is badly damaged, treatment and an encasement cover deal with it. We will tell you honestly if a piece of furniture is beyond saving.
