Pest control in Gampaha
Gampaha covers our own base at Ja-Ela and the fast growing suburbs north of the city, where new housing on former garden and paddy land brings termites and rodents with it.
Gampaha is where we are based, so it is the district we reach fastest and the one we know best. It is also the district with the widest spread of property types: dense housing around Wattala, Ja-Ela and Negombo, light industry and warehousing along the airport corridor, and genuinely rural land once you are past Veyangoda.
The warehouse and light-industrial belt near Katunayake is a particular kind of job. Buildings there take deliveries from everywhere, roller shutters are open most of the working day, and the surrounding land is often scrub, which together make rodents a permanent management problem rather than a one-off treatment. Those sites do better on a mapped station grid with a proper log than on call-outs.
Closer to the coast, around Negombo, we see more of what humidity and older timber produce: termites in roof structures and door frames, and ants almost everywhere in the dry months.
Because we start the day here, a Gampaha job usually gets the earliest slot available.
Gampaha district runs from the coast at Negombo and Katunayake inland through Ja-Ela, Wattala, Kadawatha and Kelaniya to the quieter agricultural areas beyond. It contains the airport, the Free Trade Zone, a large share of the country's light manufacturing, and a great deal of housing built on land that was cultivation within living memory. That mixture makes it the most varied district we work in.
The sectors here are manufacturing, logistics and storage above all, then hospitality along the coast, then retail and residential in volume. Industrial and warehouse work here almost always wants a documented programme rather than a single treatment, because customers, insurers and certification bodies ask for the record, and because a large building with frequent goods movement cannot be dealt with once and forgotten.
Our own base is in this district, at Ja-Ela on the Old Negombo Road, so Gampaha is the area we reach most easily and return to most readily. The suburb pages for Ja-Ela, Wattala, Kadawatha, Katunayake, Kelaniya and Negombo go into what is actually different about each, which is worth reading if your address is in one of them.
Practically, this district is where most of our commercial programme work sits, and programme work is different from a treatment. It means a schedule agreed in advance, stations or monitoring points placed to a plan, a record of every visit and every finding, and a named point of contact on both sides. Sites that need that usually know they do, because somebody has asked them for the paperwork.
For householders across the district, the recurring theme is land that has changed use. A great deal of Gampaha's housing sits on ground that was cultivation, and the pest pressure that follows clearance takes a few years to settle. That is normal, it is temporary, and the answer is proofing early rather than treating repeatedly.
The district also carries a large share of the country's food manufacturing and packaging, and those premises are the most documented work we do. Where a site needs a record for its own customers or certification, we set that up at the start rather than assembling it afterwards.
The coastal end of the district, around Negombo and Katunayake, is hospitality and logistics; the middle, around Ja-Ela, Wattala and Kandana, is manufacturing and residential; and the inland areas towards Mirigama and Divulapitiya are agricultural and quieter. Those are three different jobs, and the individual area pages are more useful than this overview if your address is in one of them.

Locally
What we see most in Gampaha
- The Katunayake warehouse belt: rodents arrive with deliveries, so stations go on a numbered grid with a log an auditor can read
- Negombo and the coastal strip: termites in roof timbers and door frames, helped along by the humidity
- Dense housing around Wattala and Ja-Ela: shared walls mean a rodent problem is often two houses, not one
- Ants indoors through the dry months, usually solved at the entry point rather than on the worktop
- The earliest appointments of the day, because this is where the vans start

Questions we get in Gampaha
- Do you actually work in this district or just pass through it?
- Our base is here, on the Old Negombo Road in Ja-Ela. It is the district we reach most easily and return to most readily, and it is where most of our commercial programme work sits.
- We are a food manufacturer. Can you provide the documentation we need?
- Yes. Food premises here are the most documented work we do: a plan, numbered monitoring points, a schedule and a record of each visit and finding. We set that up at the start rather than assembling it after somebody asks for it.
Most asked for
Treatments we are booked for
Termite control
Colony treatment that deals with the nest, not just the trail you can see.
Bed bug treatment
A room-by-room programme, because bed bugs are never only in the bed.
Rodent control
Find the way in, close it, then remove what is already inside.
Ant control
Treat the nest through the workers, rather than wiping the trail off the counter.
Getting the species right is most of the work, so every job starts with a look at what you actually have.
